Chinese herb tea culture in this society

Chinese herb tea 涼茶 , also known as medicinal herbal tea, is a kind of tea-soup made from purely Chinese medicinal herbs in Guangdong, China. It usually tastes bitter or lightly sweet and its colour black or dark brown, depending on what kinds of herbs are used. Although tea is in its name, it seldom contains any part of the tea plant.
Guangdong is sub-tropical. The weather is usually hot and wet. Cantonese chooses some herbs classified as cooling in Traditional Chinese medicine, boil them in water to made herb tea to relief the hot and wet in the body. Therefore, Chinese herb tea is referred to as cold tea in the Chinese language.
There are many kinds of cold tea. Different kind of tea can cure or relief different kinds of diseases. Some is for sore throat, some for flu and others.
The tea is quite popular in Guangdong, Macau and Hong Kong. Many families make their tea made at home. Some families are herb tea specialists and they open their own shops, selling different kinds of herb tea. Some shops have been open for 150 years in Canton and 50-60 years in Hong Kong. It is not hard to find these shops in Hong Kong.
In 1990s and 2000s, cold tea has been bottled, canned or boxed by some herbal tea specialists and is being sold in supermarket as fewer and fewer families have time to make them home. These products are usually sweetened and do not have their original flavours.

根據民間傳說，王老吉涼茶發明於清朝道光年間，被公認為涼茶始祖，有「藥茶王」之稱。至上世紀五十年代初，王老吉藥號分成兩支：一支歸入國有企業，發展為今天的「王老吉藥業股份有限公司」（原「羊城藥業」），主要生產「王老吉牌」沖劑產品（國藥準字）；另一支由王氏家族的後人帶到香港。
在中國大陸，王老吉的品牌歸王老吉藥業股份有限公司所有；在中國大陸以外有涼茶市場的國家和地區，王老吉的品牌基本上為王氏後人所注冊。由香港王氏後人提供配方經王老吉藥業特許，東莞的一家港資公司加多寶在中國獨家生產、經營紅色罐裝王老吉（食健字號）。

涼茶品種繁多，每家都有自己稍為不同的配方，而且材料的藥性繁多，令人難以學會及理解其製法，所以很多創業多年的涼茶舖都是世襲的形式經營，由一代傳一代。常見的有「廿四味」、「五花茶」、「雪梨茶」、「感冒茶」（沙溪涼茶）、「雞骨草」、「火麻仁」、「夏桑菊」等。傳統上，涼茶要在全涼掉以前喝下。一般涼茶都是接近黑色，部分味道苦中帶甘。部分首次喝這種飲料的外地人會對這種「既不涼、又不似茶」的東西感到奇怪。

在廣州、香港、澳門等地，有專門賣涼茶的店舖，例如，黃振龍涼茶隨處可見，全省共開設800多家涼茶舖、徐其修涼茶在廣東、廣西、福建等六、七個省區開了200多間涼茶連鎖店。部分在廣州的涼茶店更有超過一百五十年歷史，在香港也有不少五六十年歷史的涼茶舖，如於清朝從廣州南下開分店的王老吉、三十年代已開業的春和堂單眼佬涼茶等。
除了以上的涼茶外，有些涼茶店發售的是龜苓膏、生魚野葛湯等，嚴格上不是涼茶而是有接近功能的飲食。近年香港有部分涼茶舖走向以甜品為主導的策略，表表者是許留山。新派涼茶舖如「健康工房」（本名同治堂）兼售湯水及果汁，其同名樽裝飲品更被可口可樂收購。

古時的涼茶舖是把藥材分配好，包裝和分類後再出售，市民買了涼茶包後，需要自己回家煲。但現今的涼茶舖，所售的涼茶已經是煲好了再分類出售。近年亦有將涼茶包裝成為預先包裝飲料，目前廣州已經有王老吉、白雲山和黃（和黃藥業與白雲山股份組成各佔一半股權的合資企業）、星群藥業、養和醫藥和香雪製藥等製藥企業進入涼茶飲料市場。2004年7月起王老吉更打進了廣東地區的肯德基，銷售勢頭一直暢旺。

促癌中草藥
2006年4月中國疾控中心聯合相關單位在廣州召開新聞發佈會，指出在對1690多種用於廣東涼茶、老火湯及家庭常見種植中草藥進行的實驗中發現，其中52種廣東地區常見的中草藥可促癌，特別是被稱為「廣東癌」的鼻咽癌。
52種「促癌」植物：石粟、變葉木、細葉變葉木、蜂腰榕、石山巴豆、毛果巴豆、巴豆、麒麟冠、貓眼草、澤漆、甘遂、續隨子、高山積雪、鐵海棠、千根草、紅背桂花、雞尾木、多裂麻瘋樹、紅雀珊瑚、山烏桕、烏桕、圓葉烏桕、油桐、木油桐、火殃勒、芫花、結香、狼毒、黃芫花、了哥王、土沈香、細軸芫花、蘇木、廣金錢草、紅芽大戟、豬殃殃、黃毛豆付柴、假連翹、射幹、鳶尾、銀粉背蕨、黃花鐵線蓮、金果欖、曼陀羅、三梭、紅鳳仙花、剪刀股、堅莢樹、闊葉獼猴桃、海南蔞、苦杏仁、懷牛膝。

經粵、港、澳三地政府於2006年2月努力爭取，涼茶配製獲中國國務院列為518種「國家級非物質文化遺產」之一，

Dream about magic place [Luxembourg Gardens]

Reading and new thought 'small memory large picture'
I am reading "The first dates to 1826, when French chemist named Nicephore Niepce first succeded in writing on a surface with light, an accomplishment that was heralded as the the birth of a new artistic activity. The second dates to 1913, when a German engineer named Oskar Barnack designed of the world at the same speed at
which the world moves- without having it hold a pose.
And, in a revolutiion, the camera used moive film, thus makring possible forty-odd images from a single load. And what images they were, for Barnack's camera joined precision mechanics to quality optics. Today, we still have 'small negatives large picture' but we have one more statment is true 'small memory, large picture'.
Leica launchs the new M8 for their new turnover, I still love film but can we love digital at the same time?
For me company size is not important the more is how the company well management has their ambition, forecast and brave, finance crisis for all company will happen in their business cycle. As long as they can stay their goal and mission in correct direction that is more important. Small company in European funds have outperformance then big chip in their profit margin. Like Leica if they are too big it is not good to them; technology company in somehow they should stay in their sector in certainty size rather than expand. This turnover not just good for them but it could be benefit to photography or camera this sector as competition or business point of view; if no competition how can product improve and how we can benefit their product. This kind of wisdom they should plan ahead from some wisdom human for future. Of course, there will be a risk but if the ship move on a long a big wave; follow the trend running faster or slower depend on what you think is good or bad; for me I believe if with quality product, user friendly and reasonable cost; one day they still can achieve their destiny.
One more point I like is "Germany" a country she has a lot of the quality of issue plus their culture, I have some research on Germany from various point of view. I would love to stay and visit this country for learning more their culture and I did work with some German company. For furthermore, I believe in Euro zone continue growth or change; Germany plays very important role. By the way, Germany finance industry is one of longest history in Europe.
If I use HSBC, I would love to own their stock the reason because I know the update from them and benefit I pay too much fee. I pay the camera this price and I get back the money from Leica, what a offset!

Leica M8
It is great day for Santa gift! And I know this morning they finally release this Leica M8. Go thur the Leica offical forum read a lot of comments from world wide this big news for Leica new digital turnover will be good news or bad news for them. The trend digital camera is true and Leica this move can make them have more profit for their company. From technogy point of view the crop factor is 1.33, the existing as all we know will have affect so what Leica next move for all their len series.

Leica Digilux 3
Leica Digilux 3 is finally released at the same time with M8, V-lux 1 and D-Lux 3 all together . As I have my Digilux 2, this Digilux 3 is what a suprise to launch but in deep I rather to see how really the improvement compare with Digilux 2 The price is Price approx. 2,500 € I think is a littler higher. If I choose this with crop 2.0, I rather choose the M8 with 1.33. At least I can enjoy all M series lens.

Lan Kwai Fong Corner
Lan Kwai Fong 蘭桂坊 is a small square of streets in Central, Central and Western district, Hong Kong. The area was dedicated to hawkers before the Second World War, but underwent a renaissance in the mid 1980s. It is now a most popular expatriate haunt in Hong Kong for drinking and dining. The street Lan Kwai Fong is a L-shape with two ends join with D'Aguilar Street.
In early days, the square housed many mui yan (媒人, lit. medium person), or marriage arrangers, a role exclusively held by females. Mui yan was a marriage medium between two families in the old days. It thus known as Mui Yan Hon (媒人巷, lit. medium person lane) or Hong Leung Hon (紅娘巷).
In 1980s, German-Canadian businessman Allan Zeman, also known as father of Lan Kwai Fong, invested 32 million Hong Kong dollars to buy a whole building and renovate it as Western restaurants. The place soon became a meeting place for foreigners in Hong Kong. The square, together with a homosexual disco Disco Disco founded earlier in 1978 in D'Aguilar Street, made Lan Kwai Fong and its surroundings a famous spot for night life.

Story about Snow Festival
Best view in large , from Sapporo TV Tower
Sapporo Snow Festival one of Japan's largest winter events, attracts a growing number of visitors from Japan and abroad every year.
Every winter, about two million people come to Sapporo to see the hundreds of beautiful snow statues and ice sculptures which line Odori Park,the grounds at Satoland, and the main street in Susukino.
For seven days in February,these statues and sculptures(both large and small) turn Sapporo into a winter dreamland of crystal-like ice and white snow.
The Snow Festival began in 1950, when local high school students built six snow statues in Odori Park. in 1955, the Self-Defense Force joined in and built the very first massive snow sculpture, for which the Snow Festival has become famous for now. The Festival has grown from these humble beginnings to become one of the biggest and most well known of Hokkaido's winter events.
The Snow Festival is considered to be a festival of international-caliber.

Sapporo TV Tower (札幌テレビ塔), built in 1957, is a 147.2 metre high TV Tower with an observation deck at a height of 90.38 metres. Located in the northern city of Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, the tower is open to tourists.

These two building are Two International Finance Centre (Left) and One International Finance Centre(Right), on the left hand side is new and right hand is old. Two International Finance Centre was completed in 2003. Designed by César Pelli, this 415 m tall building is currently Hong Kong's tallest. One International Finance Centre was completed in 1998 and opened in 1999. It is 180 m tall.

Sitting in the bus and point the len on the window; bus stop and shot. It is not bad because I haven't snapshot like this long long time.
So lucky to get this bus stop in quiet. Close up is not much people there.
No crop in the picture and the bus stop is just in the perfect middle.

The light that moment was exactly what you see. Thru this raw picture, I was impressive in some way the Digilux 2 the exposure metering. With 1/60sec f/2.0 ISO100. This is so quick snapshot the reason as you see this train was ready to go and my wife called me back to train.

New Chitose Airport
It was the day I left the airplane and walk to New Chitose Airport and I found the blue sky with almost dark blue on the ground. It may be because of after the big snow and water clean up with reflection come up this chemistry. I think one of our human big discovery is airplane...so we can flying and save time travel around this beautiful world..
Light
My intention to this shot at the beginning was capture the shadow more than light. At the end, it comes up such I feel comfortable light with half spot on right. I will not intent to do any adjustment because it is the light all about! The buidling now is only background and light is object.

Pig waiter
I remembered that night my wife and I just like that traveler couple so hungry at lower temperature night in Kabukicho.
We found this Japanese noodle restaurant and the pig waiter just like standing there and asked me: "You must be hungry, we have great noodle, come and we show you, you will love it". If you get close up, you will find how those characters relationship and the guy was making noodle .
In fact, they have great noodle, but perhaps that moment I was so hungry.
I really enjoy these restaruant style which kept the traditional Japanese culture and of course the quality of noodle was wonderful.
This shot was handhold with 1/60sec, f/2.0, 28mm wide open, ISO100 only! I really appreicate this Digilux 2 even though no len change but how quickly Digilux 2 gave me all those setting at that moment I could still remember.

Henry, Adriano, 5B
Found big picture with this story. Adriano suspects what Henry see this moment, Henry now looks at 5B to say farewell with beauty on the bus
For me camera is only tool and Digilux 2 with wide open f/2.0 in 28mm (f/2.4 in 90mm, I use ISO100 even at night) is great at night ;and of course it depends on where the light sources with composition together at the same time (Due to the limitation of Digilux 2 but if I can use this limitation to achieve the great one and I will feel great). In fact, the greatest for Digilux 2 is its compact you can handle a lot of situation without change len.
The first prority for photo for me is from my heart to start what I want to take and not by equipment. It is because like above situation I only have this snapshot camera.

Shot this very quick because no matter day and night Causeway Bay is always busy. On Hennessy Road this busy area it is hard to this few second in quiet.
